Energy flows where focus goes, and focus goes where energy flows. While it’s true that succeeding as a founder without selling is near-impossible, focusing on activities that drain your energy will also keep success out of reach. Break up selling into smaller “activity chunks”.

Focus on activities that energize you. Outsource activities that drain you. For example, if running an outbound campaign feels uncomfortable, but demo’ing your product with engaged prospects is more your thing, try outsourcing the outbound piece an expert freelancer.

When you speak to customer prospects that are already aware of your product or service (as opposed to trying to generate that awareness yourself), you’ll be generating potential revenue and learning which of your value propositions stick and which don’t.

And more importantly, you’ll feel accomplished and energized for other activities.
